HISTORY
AND ACTIVITIES
Established
in 1994 by a handful of local Catholic parents, the group has steadily
grown in size and currently consists of approximately 65 families throughout
the Diocese of Oakland.
Activities are geared to meet the needs of the community. Our newsletter
is published monthly; we organize field trips; our social activities
include Dads' Day Out, Little Flowers Girls Club, teen dances, and parents'
potluck dinners; we host speakers on the professional development
of homeschooling parents; and our homeschooling resource library
is available to members.
TORCH promotes Catholic traditions by sponsoring family activities that
celebrate our rich Catholic heritage, including Masses, All Saints' Day
and Mardi Gras parties, Mother's Rosary nights, and pilgrimages.
A monthly "Mom's Night Out" gives moms an opportunity for fellowship
and prayer.ALL are welcome to join us!
We are the East Bay chapter of TORCH (Traditions of Roman
Catholic Homes), an association of lay faithful established to promote
homeschooling among Catholic families and to support those families who
are engaged in providing their children's primary education at home.
Through TORCH's monthly newsletter, members publicize TORCH events, read
about Catholic culture, pray for expectant mothers listed in St. Gerard's
column and more.
